Caroline Rowntree
I studied at Central St Martins School of Art in London, England.
For over 30 years I have worked as a Graphic Designer in Montreal, New York City and New York’s Hudson Valley and have taught in the graphics department of the State University of New York.
I currently live and work in Columbus, Ohio and now work in my studio full time as a printmaker. I have exhibited in shows and galleries in many parts of the US. My work is in private homes and corporations.
My early work was influenced by the iconic American designs of the patchwork quilt. My work has evolved from using the surface, pattern and forms of these cultural icons to a purer, simpler exploration of color in space. These new works are a continuation of this theme, based on my photographs, but are archival, digital prints created on the computer and printed in editions of 25.
